Cascade: student-led projects

You can help our students to excel out of the Classroom and boost their employability

Students at the University of Nottingham have brilliant ideas to help communities at home and around the world. Your support can be the catalyst that makes their inspirational ideas become a reality through our Cascade grants programme.

Cascade grants have helped students get many projects off the ground. From treating the pets of local homeless and vulnerably housed people to bringing clean water to communities in Borneo, your support can help our students gain valuable skills away from campus whilst making a positive impact on the world.

Donate today and help Nottingham students change lives in worlds beyond their own.

Your gift will support projects like the University of Nottingham Co-Responders

The University of Nottingham Co-Responders are a group of trained student volunteers who help the East Midlands Ambulance Service by responding to emergency calls and caring for patients while an ambulance is en-route.

A Cascade grant helped the student Co-Responders launch in 2014. Five years later, your support for Cascade helped the student responders to reach more people in need, thanks to new specialist vehicles and equipment. Now your support for Cascade is helping the Co-Responders have a real impact on the lives of people within our community with new.

Thanks to Cascade, the Co-Responders have been allocated to over 11,000 incidents since 2014, reaching over 70% of these incidents before the ambulance enabling them to provide the patient with the vital emergency care they needed, quicker than it would otherwise have come. The 999 calls are extremely varied but have included cardiac arrests, chest pain, cardiac complaints and unconscious patients.

Alongside the huge impact on the lives of many in our community, the scheme has also enabled many students studying intense healthcare degrees the opportunity to take their skills developed through their studies into real-life scenarios.

“Cascade funding has helped us with a variety of resources, including uniforms for those who can't afford them, training costs for volunteers and specialist equipment.

“Your support this Giving Day will help support more projects just like ours which enhance the student experience and help communities around the globe.

“Donating to Cascade helps students like me to develop their skills, social awareness and employability, while making a significant impact on our community.”

– Lizzie, Second-year medical student and president of University of Nottingham Co-Responder
